I mean it looks punchy without looking like overly neon colors. I can understand why people would like the oversatured non-color-managed output of these WCG monitors. My CB271HU has a measured contrast of around 1150:1 but I can hardly see any difference subjectively in black levels compared to the LG. The results were quite satisfactory, although the contrast-ratio leaves a bit to be desired. Next, adjusting the RGB values to (50,46,49) for 6500K on gamma mode 4 and running a calibration pass using gamma 2.2 (absolute) curve. Rerunning the measurements yielded a white point of 6700K and a contrast-ratio of 1060:1, however, the delta-E was worse as these modes were not calibrated.I decided to use gamma mode 4 as that one was closest to gamma 2.2 on my panel (mode 1 measured gamma 2.0 while mode 3 measured gamma 2.5) It seems gamma mode 2 is the only mode they "calibrated" while the other modes give you the stock capabilities of the panel. Now to fix the white point and properly calibrate the panel I received,Going back to Gamer 1 profile and changing the gamma mode to any other mode besides mode 2, I instantly noticed the image was brighter, although a bit yellowish-greenish. Switching to sRGB mode (which grays out all other settings except brightness) and then measuring against the reference sRGB profile yielded these results: Īverage delta-E is acceptable, however the whitepoint remained high at 7400K, while contrast-ratio went down to 836:1, and gamma remained the same at 2.24Now, I don't know what sort of calibration they did at the factory, but how could they screw up the whitepoint so badly? I mean the monitor came with a calibration report that specifically meantions 6500K white point. Using this option and selecting 6500K yields the exact same white point (7700K measured) There is a "manual" setting for the Color temp in the OSD. Monitor defaults Vs DCI-P3 reference profile: Monitor defaults Vs DCI-P3 D65 reference profile: Contrast-ratio is 869:1 and Average Delta-E is 1.31. Using the default OSD settings, we can see that the white point on my particular unit is around 7700K which is way off from the standard 6500K. So I took out my Trusty Colormunki Display and did some measurements with Displa圜AL. However, one thing I noticed was the white point looked somewhat on the bluish side. The default configuration with regards to colors wasĬolors looked more vivid compared to my calibrated CB271HU, which was to be expected considering the LG supports wide color gamut. Brightness was set to 100% by default and typical IPS-glow is present here, so those who are very sensitive to IPS-glow should steer clear from this one. No dead pixels, no BLB (I'm surprised, what a relief). Upon turning it on for the first time, the panel quality seemed pretty great.
